Sightseeing on Pécs
Due to its historical heritage of 2000 years, its ethnic traditions, and its Mediterranean-like climate, Pécs is one of the most colourful and most exciting cities in Hungary. The fact that its 2000 year old history has not disappeared without a trace can be felt at every turn while walking in the city. Early Christian subterranean relics, a mosque, a minaret, a Turkish tomb, palaces adorned with Zsolnay building ceramics, relics of Bauhaus architecture all make this city excitingly colourful. The historic centre of Pécs was put on the list of UNESCO concerning the protection of cultural and natural heritage of universal value in 2000, and it has the World Heritage title thanks to the greatest number of findings deriving from the Roman era in all Central Europe.
